The Deaf population of the given countries are taken from the various sources. The facts and statistics are as recent as the resources used and were taken from the following:

2. Operation World, Zondervan Publishing House, 5300 Patterson Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49530. 1993
For calculating the number of Deaf in an area an average of 6.603% is the figure used by NAD to calculate the number of Deaf for the U.S. and is fairly accurate. World Christian Encyclopedia uses 10% for their estimates. The difference between the NAD and World Christian percentages used may be because of the health standards around the world which is a contributing factor to deafness. In the U.S., California, and Pennsylvania have some of the largest concentrations of Deaf population.
Please understand that statistics for "deafness" are
difficult to quantify. The question, "how deaf is deaf?" can be asked. The
statistics made on this page are gathered from other sources and for the general
purpose of defining areas of need for ministry focus. We did not qualify or
quantify on the basis of deaf in one ear two ears, the db loss or other
criteria.

verifiable statistics and include the reference where these statistics were
printed.
